Earlier today, it was reported that the Biden administration was forced to “walk back” a bombshell report that Russia may have placed bounties on US troops in Afghanistan.
The Daily Beast reported that U.S. intelligence only had “low to moderate” confidence in the story after all, which translated from the jargon of spyworld, that means the intelligence agencies have found the story is, at best, unproven—and possibly untrue.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki, however, dodged questions about whether President Biden regrets attacking former President Donald Trump over the issue.
Former White House press secretary under the Trump administration Kayleigh McEnany took to Twitter to essentially say, “I told you so.”
McEnany shared a tweet from House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) where he recounted, “As @kayleighmcenany said from the WH podium last summer: ‘The front page of the NY Times is not the venue for discussing classified information…This is a piece of intelligence information that had no consensus, has not been verified, still to this day has not been verified.'”
McEnany exclaimed, “AMAZING!”
“From the White House podium, I said this intelligence was ‘not verified,’ ‘no consensus’ & that the NYTimes & Dems were ‘irresponsibly politicizing,'” McEnany continued.
McEnany then emphasized the reported news and said, “NOW WE LEARN: ‘US Intel Walks Back Claim Russians Put Bounties on American Troops.'”
“Wonder what other stories were FALSE,” McEnany speculated.
AMAZING!

The New York Times was less than forthcoming with the information, however, while they did admit the story lacked definitive proof, they did not include that in their headline.
Instead, they titled an article, “White House warns Russia on bounties, but stops short of sanctions.”
They reported that the Biden administration simply warned the Kremlin today over the C.I.A.’s conclusion that Russia had covertly offered payments to militants to encourage more killings of American and coalition troops in Afghanistan, delivering the diplomatic admonition as it imposed sanctions on Moscow over its hacking and election interference.
