Kevin Costner’s ‘Yellowstone’ Nominated For First SAG Award After Four Seasons, Production to Begin Soon on Fifth

The non-woke drama ‘Yellowstone,’ which stars Kevin Costner as John, who is a widowed sixth-generation patriarch of the Dutton family and operates the largest contiguous ranch in the U.S., has been nominated for its first Screen Actors Guild (SAG) award after four seasons.

Variety noted that most hit shows begin to see their ratings and awards recognition erode by Season 4, but it’s only the beginning for Yellowstone.

Executive producer David Glasser expects production to resume in May, with Season 5 of the drama likely to air in the fall, according to the outlet.

In a tweet, the SAG Awards announced the nomination and said, “Not to be dramatic, but the drama ensembles this year have been outstanding…”

The award that the show has been nominated for is “Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series” along with “The Handmaid’s Tale,” “The Morning Show,” “Squid Game,” and “Succession.”

Costner tweeted about the nomination through his band, Kevin Costner & MW, “We’ve got an incredible group of actors on #Yellowstone. Thank you @SAGawards for the nomination!”

Co-creator Taylor Sheridan said, “there’s no bigger compliment” on the show’s first-ever awards nomination and congratulated the “incredibly talented cast.”

Actor Gil Birmingham, who plays one of the main characters, declared, “Great news!  Yellowstone’s first-ever SAG Awards nomination for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.”

“It is a privilege to work with such an outstanding cast, crew, and everyone involved with @Yellowstone,” Birmingham gushed.

Previously, we reported that with 9.3 million viewers for the fourth season finale, “Yellowstone” set a ratings record and it was nearly double the number of viewers for the finale of season 3.
