Wisconsin Judge Gives Election Integrity Advocates Massive Victory By Reining in Absentee Ballot Drop Boxes

A judge in Wisconsin has given election integrity advocates a massive victory by reining in absentee ballot drop boxes statewide.

The ruling was made by Waukesha County Judge Michael Bohren after he heard arguments today about the debate over the use of absentee ballot drop boxes, a key component to Democrats receiving enough votes to defeat Donald Trump in the state in 2020.

Local news outlets reported that Bohren ruled state law allows absentee ballots to be returned in person or by mail, but not in a drop box.

However, the ruling will still allow for a ballot drop box to be located in a municipal clerk’s office, but not placed elsewhere throughout the state.

Bohren lectured the Wisconsin Elections Commission and said that they “ought to be required to more carefully follow the traditional mandates of Wisconsin law when they make major policy decisions.”

The ballot drop boxes began popping up across Wisconsin in the 2020 presidential election and the commission recommended local clerks use them.

At the time, mainly Democrats didn’t want to vote in person supposedly due to a fear of spreading the virus, while Republicans still mostly showed up on election day.

Two Wisconsin voters brought the lawsuit forward and they were represented by the conservative group Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty.

It is expected, however, that there will be an appeal to the case, but it may not be heard before the spring’s primary elections.

If upheld, the ruling would certainly give U.S. Sen Ron Johnson (R-WI) a better chance at retaining his seat in November, as he just recently announced that he will run for re-election.
