Boebert: Timing of DirecTV’s Cancellation of OANN ‘Pretty Convenient’ After Biden Called to Curb ‘Misinformation’

Joe Biden called for social media companies and media outlets last week to curb the spread of “misinformation” about the COVID-19 pandemic.

Biden declared, “I make a special appeal to social media companies and media outlets: Please deal with the misinformation and disinformation that is on your shows. It has to stop.”

“Covid 19 is one of the most formidable enemies America has ever faced. We have got to work together, not against each other,” Biden appealed.

Not long after that, we reported that DirecTV plans to drop the One America News Network from their channel lineup in April when their contract is up.

In a tweet, U.S. House Rep Lauren Boebert (R-CO) speculated today that perhaps the two situations are related and could be a form of political suppression.

“DirectTV decided not to renew their contract with OANN. Pretty convenient that this comes within a week after Biden begged companies to silence ‘misinformation’, meaning his opposition, I stand with @OANN!” Boebert declared.

As journalist Andy Ngo noted, MeidasTouch, a political operative group operating on behalf of Democrats and claiming to be “pro-democracy,” has taken credit for the cancellation.

“You made this happen. Thank you to everyone who stepped up and made your voices heard and thank you AT&T and DirecTV for listening,” the group declared following the announcement.

The group wasn’t too happy, sharing a screenshot of Ngo’s tweet and suggested, “When you don’t understand democracy or free market capitalism.”

In a tweet today, the group continued to push that they had a hand in the decision. “Let DirecTV dropping OANN be a small reminder that your voice matters. Don’t ever let anyone tell you otherwise,” the group insisted.
