In a shockingly tone-deaf tweet today, CNN’s Alex Koppelman tweeted out today that CNN is creating a team dedicated to covering misinformation.
The decision likely comes as a response to a recent call from Joe Biden for media outlets to do more to stop so-called misinformation.
Disclose.TV reported on the news in a tweet, “NEW – CNN to create ‘team dedicated to covering misinformation.'”
“CNN to create a team dedicated to covering CNN,” Owens deadpanned in a quote tweet.

The report likely comes as the result of the four-part tweet from Koppelman where he began, “Hello Twitter! Some very exciting MEDIA JOBS to tell you about.”
“I’m hiring 3 people for a new CNN team dedicated to covering misinformation. Thread about the team/jobs starts here,” Koppelman reported.
Koppelman then urged, “Please feel free to share far and wide, and if you’re interested, reach out or apply at the links.”
Anticipating some potential confusion, Koppelman then explained, “What do we mean by covering misinformation? Really it’s about covering reality: The uses, abuses, and distortions of it, the people twisting it, and the effect that has on all of us.”
“We already do a lot of important work on this; we want to do more,” Koppelman insisted.

Koppelman then shared a link to where prospective applicants could apply in the last two reply tweets and described the jobs.
“OK, on to the jobs. First, the editor: We’re looking for someone who can run day-to-day news on the beat, oversee incredibly sensitive and complicated and important enterprise stories, and help us define and develop the team.”
“And the two reporters. Do you feel like you have to jump down every rabbit hole you see? Do you get mad when you see liars taking advantage of people? Do you spend more time on the internet than anyone really should? This might be the job for you!”
