Manhattan DA Suspends Investigation Against Trump After Prosecutors Quit and Throw Temper Tantrum

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and his office are no longer investigating former President Donald Trump or his company. According to a disgruntled lawyer, Mark Pomerantz, who quit abruptly in February, the investigation had been suspended “indefinitely”.

It was also reported that the District Attorney’s office had started to return documents it had gathered during the investigation.

Pomerantz’s resignation letter was obtained by the New York Times and the full text of the letter was published earlier this week. Pomerantz believes that Trump is “guilty of numerous felony violations of the Penal Law” in his annual Statements of Financial Condition.

In his letter, he continues, “His financial statements were false, and he has a long history of fabricating information relating to his finances and lying about his assets to banks, the national media, counterparties, and many others, including the American people. The team that has been investigating Mr. Trump harbors no doubt about whether he committed crimes — he did.”

Pomerantz references former District Attorney Cyrus Vance who left the position in 2021, claiming that Vance had, “directed the team to present evidence to a grand jury and to seek an indictment of Mr. Trump and other defendants as soon as reasonably possible.”

His letter then gets to the point of contention and the reason he left so abruptly. “This work was underway when you took office as District Attorney. You have devoted significant time and energy to understanding the evidence we have accumulated with respect to the Trump financial statements, as well as the applicable law. You have reached the decision not to go forward with the grand jury presentation and not to seek criminal charges at the present time. The investigation has been suspended indefinitely. Of course, that is your decision to make. I do not question your authority to make it, and I accept that you have made it sincerely. However, a decision made in good faith may nevertheless be wrong. I believe that your decision not to prosecute Donald Trump now, and on the existing record, is misguided and completely contrary to the public interest. I therefore cannot continue in my current position.”

From his statement one may assume, the only reason Pomerantz was in the position, was to go after the former President and because this was no longer on the table he felt he could no longer serve in the office.

His conclusion to the letter only furthers this observation, “I fear that your decision means that Mr. Trump will not be held fully accountable for his crimes. I have worked too hard as a lawyer, and for too long, now to become a passive participant in what I believe to be a grave failure of justice. I therefore resign from my position as a Special Assistant District Attorney, effective immediately.”

The presumed revelations announced in the resignation letter, have left the anti-Trump globalists reeling. As many were banking on this investigation as some sort of justification of their dislike and what seemed like malice of the 45th president of the United States.

One of the founders of the Lincoln Project, George Conway wasn’t happy about the news, tweeting; “If Mark Pomerantz says this, you can take it to the bank. I’d trust his judgment any day of the week over an elected DA’s.”

Former federal prosecutor and NBC Legal Analyst Glen Kirshner demanded an explanation from DA Bragg as to why the investigation was dropped after reading the resignation letter. Kirshner says in his video, that he posted on Twitter, “the people of New York deserve an explanation”. In Kirschner’s point of view, Pomerantz’s letter shows the DA’s office can prove Trump’s guilt “beyond a reasonable doubt”.

Attorney Robert J. DeNault also took to Twitter to talk about the public release of the resignation letter. “Within weeks of assuming office, [he] overrode both his predecessor and line prosecutors, who had all concluded Donald Trump was guilty of multiple felonies and decided to prosecute him.”

DeNault also pointed out that the public release of the letter was “inappropriate and unethical”.

It isn’t clear how the New York Times came into possession of the letter, but it does seem like will print anything to make the former President look like a criminal in the eyes of the public.
