House Speaker Nancy Pelosi today insisted that Democrats have “no intention” of losing the House and Senate in the midterm elections.
Pelosi was speaking at her weekly press conference and was asked what “impact” it would have if former President Donald Trump announced that he was running for president again.
“Do I ever even mention his name? Would I even waste my time talking about him?” Pelosi asked in response.
“What I will say is, and I say this, and I said it again and again, Democrats have absolutely no intention of losing the House in November… and the Senate too.”
“We are mobilized, we are fortified, we have great candidates and our country is at risk, our democracy is at risk.”
“But what we are campaigning on are the kitchen table issues that affect America’s working families, so they know the difference between a Democratic and Republican administration, on top of Congress, on top of which our Democracy is at stake.”
“I don’t speculate on who’s running in 2024, even if it’s a former, occasional occupant of the White House.”
“That’s up to Republicans to figure out what impact it may have on him, but we do know that people vote, women vote, women win and so do their issues.”
Veteran GOP strategist Rory Cooper recently said that “Absent a miracle, there is no chance [Democrats] hold the House in November, and their only hope in the Senate will be Republicans choosing terrible candidates, which they have proven very capable of doing.”
