Russia Says That No Deal Has Been Made Yet For Brittney Griner as Tomi Lahren Questions Logic of Potential Swap

In a blow to supporters of WNBA player Brittney Griner, Russia reportedly has said that no deal has been made yet to secure her release and that they want to keep talks private.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov expressed surprise at the public remarks that were recently made by Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

Russia has cautioned the United States that such discussions are best conducted in private and Peskov told reporters in Moscow, “So far, there are no agreements in this area.”

“When discussing such topics, you don’t conduct information attacks,” Peskov asserted.

It was also reported that Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova indicated that talks on prisoner exchanges had been going on for some time but without a result.

Yesterday, we reported that Blinken said that the United States has offered to exchange a convicted Russian arms trafficker for WNBA player Brittney Griner.

Former U.S. Marine Paul Whelan would also be released in the deal, should the Russian government accept it.

Blinken said that he would discuss the offer with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov “in the coming days.”

“Our government has communicated repeatedly and directly on that proposal and I’ll use the conversation to follow up personally and I hope, move us toward a resolution,” Blinken added.

Tomi Lahren weighed in after hearing the news of a potential swap and questioned in a tweet, “Wait wait we are exchanging a Russian arms dealer, the so-called ‘Merchant of Death’ for Brittney Griner?!”

“This is Bowe Bergdahl all over again. RIDICULOUS! P.S. Griner hates America anyway! Like Lebron said, why does she want to come back? #griner,” Lahren pointed out.
