It was reported today that in a new book, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley penned a lengthy and vociferous critique of then-President Donald Trump in a resignation letter he ultimately never sent.
The letter was allegedly written in the wake of Trump’s Layfayette Square photo-op as he attempted to quell the George Floyd riots.
Ultimately, Milley reportedly decided to stay and told his staff, “F*ck that shit,” per the New Yorker. “I’ll just fight him.”
In what could potentially be perceived as an insurrection, Milley also told staff, “If they want to court-martial me, or put me in prison, have at it, but I will fight from the inside.”
Breitbart’s Kristina Wong weighed in on the report in a tweet where she shared a screenshot and quipped, “Totally normal, from a four-star general and the president’s top military adviser in maintaining civilian control of the military.”
“BuT DrUMpf WaS SuCH a ThReAt, these very smart civ-mil scholars will say…and you wonder why the military is perceived as political and is facing a retention and recruitment crisis. You reap what you sow and this is all under Milley’s watch,” Wong lamented.

As we reported in June 2021, when questioned by Republicans in the House Armed Services Committee about critical race theory in the military Milley responded by defending the practice and suggesting that Jan. 6 was caused by “White rage.”
In a nearly two minute diatribe, Milley ascertained, “On the issue of critical race theory … I do think it’s important for those of us in uniform to be open-minded and be widely read … It is important that we train and we understand.”
“I want to understand white rage and I’m white and I want to understand it,” Milley continued and he then appeared to take a shot at the Trump-supporting Republicans he was responding to, “What is it that caused thousands of people to assault this building and try to overturn the Constitution of the United States of America?”
Milley explained, “I’ve read Mao Tse-tung. I’ve read Karl Marx. I’ve read Lenin. That doesn’t make me a communist, So what is wrong with understanding, having some situational understanding about the country for which we are here to defend?”
“I personally find it offensive that we are accusing the United States military, our general officers … of being ‘woke’ or something else because we’re studying some theories that are out there. It matters to our military and the discipline and cohesion of this military,” Milley concluded.
