Elon Musk Takes the Fight to Apple, Calls Out CEO Tim Cook After Reporting that ‘Apple Has Mostly Stopped Advertising on Twitter’

Elon Musk today called out Apple in multiple tweets, including CEO Tim Cook in one, after reporting that the company has “mostly stopped advertising” on Twitter.

The move comes after Musk said last week that he would create an “alternative phone” if Apple and Google ban the social media platform from their app stores.

Not only that but it was Apple’s stock dropped today after it was reported iPhone production is expected to take a big hit from unrest at a factory in China.

Musk began the onslaught by announcing, “Apple has mostly stopped advertising on Twitter. Do they hate free speech in America?”

In a reply to his tweet, Musk subsequently asked, “What’s going on here @tim_cook?”

Musk also responded to a reply to his tweet from a company, LBRY, that said, “During Covid, Apple demanded our apps filter some search terms from being returned.”

“If we did not filter the terms, our apps would not be allowed in the store. Apple may make good products, but they have been opposed to free speech for some time,” LBRY explained.

Musk inquired, “What terms?”

LBRY responded, “Apple disallowed almost anything related to Covid, especially vaccines or human origins of the virus. We had to build a list of over 20 terms to not show results for, only on Apple devices. Apple also later rejected us because users included Pepe images in videos.”

“Secret suppression of free speech by Apple. Customers were never told. What the hell is going on here?” Musk wondered.

Musk made a pair of other tweets regarding Apple including a poll and then stated in a tweet, “Apple has also threatened to withhold Twitter from its App Store, but won’t tell us why.”
