Dems Furious as Trump Appointed Judge Delays Documents Trial to May 2024, Leo Terrell Believes Further Delay Possible

U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon has set dates for the documents case led by special counsel Jack Smith against former President Donald Trump. A pretrial hearing has been set for May 14th with a possibility that the trial could start May 20th.

Leo Terrell tweeted the news:

“Sorry Democrats and corrupt #JackSmithDOJ ! #JudgeCannon denied your request for a speedy Kangaroo Trial against President Trump. See you NEXT year! #TRUMP2024ToSaveAmerica”

The release of the future deadlines for the case was shared on Twitter and Alex Bruesewitz replied, “ELECTION INTERFERENCE” as the case is currently set to take place before the 2024 presidential election.

“JUST IN: Judge Aileen Cannon has set the trial date for the Trump documents case for Monday, May 20, 2024.”

“ELECTION INTERFERENCE”

Terrell responded to Bruesewitz, “Trust me, the trial date will change again!” Terrell believes that the case will be delayed until after the 2024 election. This prospect is unnerving for many Democrats as well as ā€œRINOsā€.

Smith’s team had wanted a much faster timeline and was hoping for a trial that would start mid-December of 2023 wrapping up before primary voting in 2024.

With this date set for May of 2024, most primaries will have already taken place before the trial starts. A Trump adviser shared they anticipate that they will be able to delay the trial until after the 2024 election.

Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung told CNN, “Todayā€™s order by Judge Cannon is a major setback to the DOJā€™s crusade to deny President Trump a fair legal process. The extensive schedule allows President Trump and his legal team to continue fighting this empty hoax. Crooked Joe Biden is losing and attempting to use his weaponized DOJ against his top political rival ā€“ a disgraceful and un-American abuse of power. Crooked Joe will fail and President Trump will win back the White House for the American people.”

Former U.S. House Rep. turned CNN contributor Adam Kinzinger (R) said he wasn’t surprised by the trial date. Kinzinger then shared his fears, “The thing I’m actually concerned about Kate, is that it’s gonna get pushed even further again. You know the closer it gets to the election and then beyond the election. ‘Cause I think it’s Donald Trump’s calculus that he’s going to in his mind win the election and then turn around and pardon himself and that’s never been challenged constitutionally.”

Kinzinger’s fear is also shared by many Democrats who don’t want to see Trump in the White House again, those who have continually gone after the former president since he made his announcement in 2015.

Occupy Democrats tweeted:

“Not soon enough but at least it’s on the calendar.”

We will see what happens over the next year, if the case is delayed once again and if Trump successfully takes back the White House.
