Adidas today bowed to a massive leftist pressure campaign as the company announced that it was severing ties with Kanye West “Ye”.
Leftists had been relentlessly tagging the company on Twitter and trolling the comment section on the brand’s tweets.
In a statement, the company claimed, “Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech.”
“Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness,” the statement continued.
The statement concluded, “After a thorough review, the company has taken the decision to terminate the partnership with Ye immediately, end production of Yeezy branded products and stop all payments to Ye and his companies. Adidas will stop the Adidas Yeezy business with immediate effect.”
The company also noted that the move would have a short-term negative impact of up to 250 million euros ($246 million) on net income in 2022 due to high seasonality in the fourth quarter and its stock dropped following the move as well.
In an October 16 podcast, Ye basically dared the company to drop him as he said, “I can say anti-Semitic things, and Adidas can’t drop me. Now what?”
Kasper Rørsted, CEO of Adidas, called the company’s relationship with Ye “fantastic” and perhaps one of the “most important” for them just two months ago.
Rørsted’s comments came when Ye accused the company of hosting a Yeezy Day without permission.
Leftist Brian Tyler Cohen had previously declared on Twitter in a viral tweet, “It really is incredible that Kanye West could say, ‘I can say anti-Semitic things and @adidas can’t drop me,’ and Adidas chooses to do exactly that. Their silence says it all.”
