New York City restaurateur Keith McNally has unbanned the host of the “Late Late Show” James Corden. All it took was a phone call and an apology.
According to a new Instagram post from McNally, Corden called him and “apologized profusely”, and because he “strongly believes in second chances” Corden is welcome back. As McNally put it, “Come Back to the 5 & Dime, Jimmy Corden, Jimmy Corden. All is Forgiven”.
McNally explained his reasoning for the unbanning, “Having fucked up myself more than most people, I strongly believe in second chances. So if James Corden lets me host his Late Late Show for 9 months, I’ll immediately rescind his ban from Balthazar. No, of course not. But….anyone magnanimous enough to apologize to a deadbeat layabout like me (and my staff) doesn’t deserve to be banned from anywhere.”
Corden was only banned from Balthazar for about seven hours total, enough to possibly miss two meals. It seems McNally isn’t a fan of cancel culture but is also not going to let the “tiny cretin of a man” get away with his behavior either.
In his first post to Instagram McNally laid out some of Corden’s bad behavior that he has unleashed at the restaurant. He highlighted two events from this year, the last one occurring on October 9th, when Corden and his wife came in for brunch.
Corden lost it on the waiter screaming, “You can’t do your job! You can’t do your job! Maybe I should go into the kitchen and cook the omelette myself!”. This shook the server, however, she did finish her shift and the manager took over Corden’s table after that.
The other incident reported by McNally was from June. McNally shared that after eating his meal Corden showed a hair to the manager and demanded they get a round of drinks for free. Corden then threatened, “Get us another round of drinks this second. And also take care of all of our drinks so far. This way I write any nasty reviews in yelp or anything like that”.
After both incidents, it is clear why McNally 86ed the comedian from Balthazar.
It all seems to be embarrassing for the actor as he has not addressed the viral post directed at him, but it did humble him enough, or maybe his tummy did, to apologize for his sad behavior.
