Amy Klobuchar Attempts to Exploit ‘Destruction’ From Colorado Fire By Calling For ‘Action Now on Climate’

In an early-morning tweet, U.S. Sen Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) attempted to exploit the “destruction” from a Colorado fire by calling for “Action now on climate.”

Klobuchar shared a clip of police video from the fire and said of the situation, “Words can’t describe the destruction in Colorado.”

“Thinking of so many people who lost so much, all the first responders, and yes, the need for action now on climate. No one can deny what is happening,” Klobuchar insisted.

Downed power lines are believed to have sparked fires in the area and officials in Boulder County estimated that the fire grew to 1,600 acres in Louisville, Superior, and other unincorporated parts of the county.

Ninety percent of the is in severe or extreme drought and hasn’t seen substantial rainfall since midsummer, but the areas impacted by the fires could see 5 to 10 inches of snow today.

105 mph wind gusts also helped add to the blaze which destroyed at least 580 homes and forced the evacuation of 30,000.

According to the Associated Press, at least one first responder and six other people were injured, but as of this morning, there were no immediate reports of any deaths, something Boulder County Sheriff Joe Pelle called a potential “miracle.”

“It’s unbelievable, when you look at the devastation, that we don’t have a list of a hundred missing persons. I’m hoping that’s a miracle,” Pelle said.

As for Klobuchar, she has been notably silent on the destruction that occurred from the George Floyd riots last year.

A June report from Newsweek noted that more than 1,500 businesses in Minneapolis and St. Paul damaged during last year’s riots remain closed, while others are struggling to stay open.
