Last Friday Sheppard ‘Shep’ Smith announced on his show that it was his last broadcast with Fox News, shocking many in the media as well as Fox News viewers. Even though much of the Fox News base was not happy with Shep’s more recent anti-Trump left-leaning spin on his reporting of the news, it wasn’t something anyone saw coming and made some pretty big waves.
Today conservative pundit Ann Coulter took a potshot at Shep. Ann is a right-leaning iconic figure who is also a lawyer and has sometimes been critical of President Trump herself but from the other side of the spectrum that Shep Smith sometimes took. Coulter’s criticism was based on her early support for Trump and what she believed were his failures to keep all his campaign promises, although there is still time for opinions to be swayed on that, possibly even hers.
Coulter’s harsh tweet today was shaped in the form making a laughingstock out of the fact that today is Fox News’ first day WITHOUT Smith as the leading anchor, or in any other capacity for that matter. She said:
“The sweetest words today were the ones we did not hear: “And now, here’s Shep …”

Conservative commentator Wayne Dupree chimed in on the same subject. Rather than making Shep the focus, he discussed who else he thinks needs to go from Fox News in addition to Shep Smith, in his opinion. He captioned his story on Twitter:
“It’s great that Shep’s gone, but there’s a lot more housecleaning that needs to be done over at Fox News, folks.”

It’s yet to be seen who will be replacing Shep Smith, so all eyes are on Fox right now to see what is coming next. President Trump fired off a response the day he left as well, asking if ratings were the reason or ‘some other less important reason?’.
