In a tweet yesterday, progressive U.S. House Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) announced that she has been picked to be U.S. House Rep Jamie Raskin’s (D-MD) #2 on the House Oversight Committee.
Axios recently reported that Raskin said he wanted to assemble a team equipped to “refute and debunk any nonsense that comes down the pipe.”
“I would gladly put them up against everyone who’s come from the other side,” Raskin, who is the top Democrat on the panel, insisted.
Ocasio-Cortez declared in the tweet that she is, “Excited and humbled to share that this evening I was selected to serve as @RepRaskin’s #2 on the House Oversight Committee.”
“Thank you to my colleagues on @OversightDems for entrusting me with this responsibility. I’m thrilled to get to work with our incredible Oversight team!” Ocasio-Cortez emphasized.

Thank you to my colleagues on @OversightDems for entrusting me with this responsibility. I’m thrilled to get to work with our incredible Oversight team!
In response, another progressive U.S. House Rep, Maxwell Alejandro Frost (D-FL) told her that he is, “Proud to serve on @OversightDems with you!!”
Frost is a freshman Congressman who reportedly had struggled to rent an apartment in Washington D.C. when he was first elected.
In response, Ocasio-Cortez told Frost, “Likewise! Let’s do this. You’re gonna be a pro in no time!”

Another selection to the Committee, U.S. House Rep Robert Garcia (D-CA), echoed Frost’s sentiments as he replied, “Congrats @AOC and we are excited to serve and learn from you.”
“We are fired up and ready to go. Looking forward to the work ahead,” Garcia added. Ocasio-Cortez gushed in response, “Thanks so much @RobertGarcia! You’re going to be amazing!”
