AOC and the Far Left Bash Biden for Claiming to be Against Fracking

During the debate tonight, hydraulic fracturing or “fracking” was a hot topic. Joe Biden claimed that he would not be for any new fracking saying, “no more, no new fracking.” Fracking is a proven drilling technology used for extracting oil, natural gas, geothermal energy, or water from deep underground.

No more, no new fracking and by the way on the recovery act I made sure that we invested $90B in making sure we brought down the price of solar and wind that is lower than the price of coal, that is why not another new coal plant will be built.

A 2015 Harvard Business School/Boston Consulting Group analysis estimates that shale development created roughly 2.7 million U.S. jobs in the first decade of the shale revolution. A 2013 study, commissioned by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, projected fracking will create a total of 3.5 million U.S. jobs by 2035. A separate 2017 American Petroleum Institute (API) report found that the oil and natural gas industry supports 10.3 million jobs in the U.S. and projects the industry will support an additional 1.9 million jobs by 2035.

AOC, one of Bernie Sander’s biggest supporters, was quick to respond to the claim by tweeting, “Don’t say you support a fracking ban when you don’t. This is basic. The truth matters.”

The DSA, Democratic Socialists of America, also tweeted out a response, “Joe Biden won’t stop lying. This is the first time he’s ever claimed to support a fracking ban.” They also shared a CNN article from September where Biden said, “I think we should in fact be looking at what exists now and making a judgment whether or not the those in fact that are there, those wells that are there, whether or not they are dangerous, whether or not they have already done the damage,”

Left-wing journalist Walker Bragman shared a screenshot from Biden’s website with a part underlined that appears to show him being okay with new fracking that said, “Requiring aggressive methane pollution limits for new and existing oil and gas operations.”

Time will tell which side of the coin Biden will land on but it appears he is trying to play both sides at the moment and Sander’s supporters aren’t buying it.
