‘At First, I Thought This Was a Parody’ Musk Responds After Anti-Trump Blue Check ‘AOC vs. Musk’ Poll Totally Backfires

A recent attempt by anti-Trump Twitter blue check David Weissman to come to the aid of U.S. House Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) backfired in an epic fashion.

On Thursday, Elon Musk ran a poll on the social media platform that asked, “Who do you trust less?” The two options were “Politicians” or “Billionaires.”

“Politicians” ended up being the overwhelming choice by over 3.3 million voters.

In a reply to his poll, Musk tagged Ocasio-Cortez and said, “I dare you to run the same poll with your followers.”

One respondent told Musk, “I’d guess that the result would be the opposite given the mindset of those likely to be following her social media account” to which he replied, “I’m genuinely curious.”

Another asked Musk if he was “picking on her cause she said she wants to switch from Tesla to another EV” along with a laughing emoji and he replied with eyes and laughing emojis.

Weissman also replied and said, “I’m not AOC, who I admire. I will bite, and I will take this poll. Who do you trust less?”

Weissman was apparently unsatisfied with the results, so yesterday he tweeted a poll of his own and declared “Let’s prove how phony the right’s ridiculous polls are by doing one of our own. Who do you trust more @elonmusk @AOC

Although that poll isn’t totally completed yet, Musk is currently outpacing Ocasio-Cortez with over 80% of the vote.

With the results quickly not going the way he expected, Weissman acknowledged, “Not sure how this poll flipped but I won’t delete it and will take the L.”

Musk replied to the poll today, “At first, I thought this was a parody” along with a laughing emoji.

Weissman then did his best to take it in stride as he tweeted not long after, “Well, I didn’t see that coming, lol” while retweeting Musk in a reply.
