In an interview with Real America’s Jorge Ramos back in February, Joe Biden, who leads the race for the Democratic presidential nomination in the delegate count, claimed that “legal and undocumented immigrants are … not a burden, it’s a gift.” He also claimed that “we can afford to do this, this is a big country” and that they are “the reason why our society is functioning, the reason why our economy is growing.”
We can afford to do this, this is a big country, the idea that we can accommodate more people in the interest of the United States and by the way, guess what? The legal, as well as undocumented, the reason why our society is functioning, the reason why our economy is growing, we don’t talk about that. We stand up and act like it is a burden. It is not a burden, it’s a gift.
During the interview, he called previous deportation measures when he was the Vice President, “a big mistake.” Biden also criticized former President Obama, adding, “We took far too long to get it right.”
Florida Republican House Rep Matt Gaetz got wind of the quote earlier today and hit back at Biden on Twitter asking “can we return to sender?”
.@JoeBiden says illegal immigrants are a “gift” to America.

If true, can we return to sender?
Gaetz has been hitting Democrats hard, as reported Tuesday, he took “Mini” Mike Bloomberg to task for the amount of money he spent on his campaign that netted only a victory in the American Somoa by saying he could have “spent $700m to buy the place.”
Bloomberg spent $500m just to win American Samoa. He could have spent $700m to buy the whole place. It would have been a better investment than his campaign
