President Biden promised that he would treat “red” states the same as “blue” states when he took office. It took until last night, 4 days after he made an emergency declaration, however, for him to tweet about the disaster that has been taking place in Texas, a “red” state.
Biden said in his tweet, which was posted at 11:30pm on the east coast, “Tonight, I called Governor Greg Abbott to discuss the ongoing situation in Texas and identify ways we can support the state’s recovery from this storm.”
“I made clear to the Governor that I’ll work relentlessly to get his state what they need,” Biden added.
One response to his tweet from “Jan Englund” suggested, “Little late don’t you think?… but thats the norm for democrats. Three days after a crisis they pipe up and act like they are the saviors.”

According to the USA Today, Biden said today he plans to visit Texas next week following the state’s brutal winter storm that left millions without power but will only go when he determines his presence won’t be a “burden.”
Biden said “The answer is yes,” in regards to a visit to Texas, adding his plan originally was to go in the middle of next week, “but I don’t want to be a burden. When the president lands in a city in America it has a long tail.”
Gov. Abbott issued a press release yesterday in regards to what happened and how the state is dealing with it and plans to try to prevent it from happening again.
Governor Greg Abbott today provided an update on the state’s response to winter weather and power outages. As part of his update, the Governor declared a new emergency item for this legislative session. The Governor is asking the Legislature to mandate the winterization of Texas’ power system and for the Legislature to ensure the necessary funding for winterization.
In addition, the Governor announced he is requesting a Major Disaster Declaration — which includes Individual Assistance, Public Assistance, and the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program — from the White House. This declaration will allow eligible Texans to apply for assistance to help address broken pipes and related property damage. The Governor previously requested a Federal Emergency Declaration from the White House which was granted on Sunday.
