New York City Mayor and radical leftist Bill de Blasio has decided to make himself news again, possibly because Governor Andrew Cuomo is getting all the attention? But seriously, it is being reported that de Blasio has said that he thinks people who commit hateful but noncriminal conduct should be confronted by the NYPD.
Apparently the leader of the largest city in “free world” thinks free speech should be policed. People who say potentially offensive things should be intimidated. People who don’t abide by the social rules set by Hollywood and global elites should be paid a visit, at there home by “New York’s finest”.
In any other year this might seem like a Babylon Bee story, but although we are an opinion website, we deal in truth, and this is all real. If you are in New York City you may be careful about repeating that controversial opinion you may have read about or watched on your favorite livestream if you’re lucky enough to be dining in at a heavily Covid-19 regulated restaurant, for example. Someone may overhear you, perhaps wrongly, misinterpret what you say, or perhaps they just don’t like you and lie about you.
This in turn could lead to your kids, wife, pets and neighbors wondering why the police are at your home, seeing as how you are a law abiding citizen. Matthew Chayes reported:
“Those who commit hateful but noncriminal conduct should be confronted by the NYPD, @NYCMayor @BilldeBlasio says: “I assure you, if an NYPD officer calls you or shows up at your door to ask about something you did, that makes people think twice, and we need that.”
“I think that has an educating impact on people; I think that has a sobering impact that we need.”

The New York Post reported how de Blasio said that this could lead to possible crimes being looked for too, mentioning that people will be told they could be breaking the law if their “hateful conduct” is done on a higher level.
Asked how the so-called “confrontations” would work, de Blasio said the NYPD is already trained at doling out warnings.
“If someone has done something wrong, but not rising to a criminal level, it’s perfectly appropriate for an NYPD officer to talk to them to say, ‘that was not appropriate, and if you did that on a higher level, that would be a crime,’” he said.
It’s amazing that in a world where we ban stop and frisk for possible racism when it in fact does lower crime rates, we also are banning free speech and talking about intimidating people into having opinions that are devised by Hollywood screenwriters. Oh, what a tangled web we weave.
