Officers arrested a 29-year-old black man Phillip Johnson, of Northwest D.C., for assault with a dangerous weapon during last night’s clashes between Black Lives Matter rioters and Trump supporters.
Johnson was dressed all in black as can be seen in a photo that shows him with the knife out and ready to stab.

Another video shows one of the Proud Boys being stabbed after they were attempting to tell him to leave the area. Someone can be heard at the beginning of the video yelling, “Knife.”
News reports have attempted to frame that he only pulled out the knife in self-defense but that shows that he clearly had it out prior.

A group of ‘Proud Boys’ can be seen in another video surrounding the knife-wielding man and beating him as police attempt to take control of the situation.

A subsequent video shows a black man sitting on the ground, which appears to be Johnson, with his face bruised and bloodied.
He can be seen spitting what appears to be a tooth and also appears to be in police custody at that point.
Someone can be heard yelling at him and cursing at him and saying “That’s what you get for stabbing someone.” Another person chimes in and asks, “How’s your face look, b*tch.” Police then tell them to “back up.”

A Portland “Reverend” attempted to stand up for the knife-wielding man and said that “This account of the beating of Phillip Johnson by Donald Trump’s Proud Boys shows a Black man being assaulted and defending himself with a knife only after violence was perpetrated against him. If true, this was self-defense.”
