BLM Rioter Given Six-Year Prison Sentence For Throwing Molotov Cocktail into Occupied NYPD Van

A Black Lives Matter rioter with a long rap sheet has been given a six-year prison sentence for throwing a Molotov cocktail into an occupied NYPD van during the George Floyd riots.

27-year-old Samantha Shader allegedly threw a Molotov cocktail into the van, which was occupied by four officers at 1:12 a.m. in Brooklyn on May 31, 2020, according to charging documents.

The officers managed to escape, although the cocktail shattered two windows of the NYPD vehicle and damaged the vehicle while officers were inside.

It was revealed during the trial that Shader “has traveled the country committing various crimes, which include acts of violence and resisting arrest” including a 2019 officer interference conviction in Waterford, Connecticut.

During sentencing, Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan Algor said, “The defendant’s use of a Molotov cocktail was a violent event … four officers were sitting in that van whose lives could have ended in death or injury had that Molotov cocktail gone off.”

The defense asked for the minimum of five years while Algor argued that Shader should be sentenced to more than seven years.

Shader cried during her sentencing hearing and said, “I want to apologize to everybody. I want to apologize to the police…I apologize to my family.”

“What I did was wrong and disrespectful. I hope you can forgive me. And everyone else there,” Shader insisted, as well as saying she wished she “could take this back.”

Shader added, “I have no excuse for what I did. So I’m not gonna try to make any. I am grateful for where I am right now in life.”

Judge Dora Irizarry noted that the events that unfolded could have been “catastrophic” and that “Not just the lives of the four officers were at risk but also protestors.”

“The vehicle had gasoline. It could have exploded,” Irizarry pointed out.
