Chris Rock After Public Apology From Will Smith: ‘Everybody is Trying to be a F*cking Victim’

After actor Will Smith issued a public apology on Friday to comedian Chris Rock, Rock mentioned Smith during a stand-up appearance at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta.

“Everybody is trying to be a f*cking victim. If everybody claims to be a victim, then nobody will hear the real victims,” Rock pointed out.

Rock explained, “Even me getting smacked by Suge Smith, I went to work the next day, I got kids. Anyone who says words hurt has never been punched in the face.”

Smith apologized in a video prior to the show as he said, “Chris, I apologize to you. My behavior was unacceptable. And I’m here whenever you’re ready to talk.”

“I was fogged out by that point. It’s all fuzzy. I’ve reached out to Chris and the message that came back is that he’s not ready to talk and when he is, he will reach out,” Smith claimed.

Smith also said that no part of him thinks now that it was “the right way to behave in that moment.”

One person that Rock may have even been referencing is activist Johnetta Elzie, who quote tweeted a news source that reported on Smith’s apology.

That quote tweet came not long after the apology, which occurred that morning, and Elzie said, “Did Jada get an apology from Chris Rock? Just wondering.”

“Celebrity beef is different. Why is Will apologizing to Chris Rock who is yachting in Croatia with Matthew McConaughey (laughing face emoji) that man ain’t thinking about that damn slap,” Elzie suggested.

While Elzie has gotten over 160k likes on her tweet, many weren’t impressed as she later defended her position by adding, “Will Smith must’ve slapped some ppl in my mentions too.”

Twitter user “Miss Mermaid” inquired in reply, “So all comedians should apologize to people they make jokes about??”
