Colin Kaepernick Claims That if Given the Opportunity, He Could Make a Team in the NFL ‘Better’

Activist former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick was made an honorary captain at the University of Michigan’s spring game recently.

Kaepernick has ties with the current head coach, Jim Harbaugh, as he was drafted by him out of college when he was the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers.

Harbaugh gave Kaepernick an opportunity to put on a “throwing exhibition” at halftime during the game, after which he was interviewed.

During the interview, Kaepernick claimed that if given the opportunity, he could make a team in the NFL “better.”

Kaepernick told reporter Jeanna Trotman that him and his agent just wanted to make sure to show the NFL that he could “still play, still throw it and really just looking for an opportunity for a door to open to have that be a pathway to get back in there, get a starting job, and lead a team to a championship.”

Trotman then asked Kaepernick what his message was to NFL teams, to which he replied, “That I can make you a better team.”

“I can help you win games. I know right now the situation likely won’t allow me to come and step into a starting role, I know I’ll be able to work my way to that quickly though,” Kaepernick insisted.

Absent, however, was any mention of his national anthem and social justice antics that likely contributed to his initial departure from the league.

Last month, we reported that, in an attempt to revive his NFL career, Kaepernick tweeted out that he was seeking “professional route runners.”

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett answered the call in a response to Kaepernick, who promised to “dm” him.

Prior to that, Kaepernick tweeted a video that was reminiscent of the one that “Uncle Rico” recorded in Napoleon Dynamite.

“Still Working,” Kaepernick, who is 34-years-old, declared.

Kaepernick then took it a step further when he tweeted, “For The past 5 years I’ve been working out and staying ready in case an opportunity to play presented itself.”

“I’m really grateful to my trainer, who I’ve been throwing to all this time. But man, do I miss throwing to professional route runners,” Kaepernick continued.

Kaepernick then asked, “Who’s working??” and explained, “I will pull up.”

Lockett, who is entering his 8th season, then quote tweeted Kaepernick and told him, “Let’s do it bro! Me and my brother will come run routes for you!”

“Love to you and your brother! I’ll be there tomorrow. I’ll dm you to coordinate,” Kaepernick responded in a quote tweet of Lockett.

Kaepernick ultimately did end up working out with Lockett and he shared out a video of the two working together in a tweet.

However, it doesn’t appear that the workout has yet made a difference in Kaepernick’s quest to return to the NFL.
