Congress Drops Mask Mandate Prior to Joe Biden’s State of the Union Address

It was reported yesterday that Congress has dropped the mask mandate prior to Joe Biden’s State of the Union address.

Fox News’s Chad Pergram reported in a tweet that the Office of the Capitol Attending Physician announces COVID changes for the State of the Union speech.

The Office said that the State of the Union will still require a negative test for members to attend but “KN95 or N95 mask wear is no longer required and mask wear is now an individual choice option.”

Clay Travis quote tweeted Pergram and said, “Just in time for Tuesday’s state of the union, Congress no longer has a mask requirement.”

“It’s amazing how ‘the science’ has such impeccable political timing,” Travis noted.

U.S. House Rep Darrell Issa (R-CA) weighed in on the move in a tweet where he called out Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and had a theory on why it was done.

“And just like that: Nancy Pelosi cancels her pointless mask mandate in Congress so Biden can do the same in his speech on Tuesday. Nobody is buying this,” Issa explained.

Others suggested that the move could have something to do with the declining number of COVID cases throughout the country.

One Twitter user responded to Pergram and asked, “How about a breathalyzer test for @SpeakerPelosi?”
