Controversial Virginia State Senator Amanda Chase Files to Run for U.S. House in 7th District After Flip-Flopping on Decertification

Virginia State Senator Amanda Chase has apparently filed to run for U.S. House in Virginia’s 7th Congressional District. Although she hasn’t announced (that we know of), she recently tweeted that her supporters won’t be supporting Bryce Reeves, an establishment Virginia Republican with deep tentacles of influence throughout the Virginia Republican party.

She cryptically tweeted on October 22nd:

“My supporters will not be supporting Senator Bryce Reeves for Congress.”

CA Target Bot tweeted about the filing:

Reeves recently posted about his campaign:

“My campaign is about freedom, limited constitutional government and the dignity and worth of every human being. Join today: http://brycereeves.com

Chase has faced controversy since hinting that she may run as an independent in the Virginia Governor’s primary if she felt the primary was stacked against her. Ultimately she did not do so. She also met with Black Lives Matter activists last year in an attempt to “find common ground” with people who supported the second amendment.

Chase has since done damage control, taking a strong stance against radical left-wing groups and implying that the situation was taken out of context and used by her political enemies to hurt her. Many have said that Chase draws her inspiration from people like Virginia’s 2018 U.S. Senate Republican nominee Corey Stewart, and also former President Trump. Lots of Republicans either love her or hate her and there aren’t a lot of people in the middle.

Chase has played a big role in standing up for election integrity on the national front, but recently Arizona State Senator Wendy Rogers took a swipe at her for taking a different path than Rogers.

Previously their efforts were aligned, but Chase did not sign on to Rogers recent letter supporting election integrity around the nation:

Recently though, Chase said she’s “no longer a Wendy Rogers fan”. To which Rogers responded on Telegram:

I love Amanda Chase as a sister in Christ. However, the reason I did not let her change the letter is because she didn’t get back to me for a week and we are keeping this #AuditTrain moving. We don’t have time to dilly dally and do group think. I had already gotten over 40 signers by the time she told me she wanted to change it. Additionally – I don’t need anything. I don’t want to be chairman of anything. I don’t want titles or kudos for anything. I just want to get things done. It is all about execution of the tasks at hand to save our country. Finally – remember when I said people were trying to get me to water down our letter and take out decertification? That was Amanda Chase. I did not give in and I stand by the letter to #AuditAll50States and to eventually #Decertify this corrupted election.

This is an interesting district that used to be held by “RINO” Republican Eric Cantor. It was historic when he lost a primary in 2014 to Dave Brat, who was also a Republican. Brat, however, ran a weak race in 2018 and lost to Democrat Abigail Spanberger, giving up the seat that was long held by Republicans. Libertarian-leaning Nick Frietas, who is and was a current member of the Virginia House of Delegates as a Republican, tried to unseat Spanberger in 2020 and lost by a little over 8,000 votes after also losing a U.S. Senate primary race in 2018 to Trump stalwart Corey Stewart.

Time will tell how Chase’s announcement goes and when it comes, and who eventually gets the most backing for that race. The Governor’s race tomorrow could potentially set the pace for upcoming Virginia races as well. Stay tuned for updates.
