Earlier we reported on a tweet by U.S. House Rep Cori Bush (D-MO) bashing Independence Day on the fourth of July. In case you missed that report, the tweet can be seen below and read:
“When they say that the 4th of July is about American freedom, remember this: the freedom they’re referring to is for white people. This land is stolen land and Black people still aren’t free.”

This land is stolen land and Black people still aren’t free.
U.S. House Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene and three prominent conservative African Americans lashed out at Bush, excoriating her for her shocking rhetoric.
Lavern Spicer said:
“This is so painful. My heart is broken. White people voted for you. How dare you play the RACE card game today! Stop the division. We must do better. The Freedom they’re referring to is for everyone.”

Leo Terrell blasted Bush:
“Do not respond to this idiot: She just wants attention: She hates herself!!!”

Kim Klacik destroyed Bush’s narrative, saying:
“I could say something rude, but I think it’s best to make sure we have someone running against her & ensure that individual has our full support along with access to every resource necessary to take her seat in 2022”

Majorie Taylor Greene didn’t mince words:
“Says a black woman, who is one of only 435 people in all of America currently elected to serve in Congress. You can stop with the racism now Cori and put your race card back in your pocket. 4th of July is freedom for all from a tyrannical government. Happy Independence Day!”

This is just a sample of the many angry replies and “quote tweets” after Bush’s ridiculous tweet. Just recently, Bush tweeted again, not apologizing, but rather doubling down on her dangerous rhetoric:
“We know what our own freedom looks like. End the slavery permitted under the 13th amendment. End the War on Drugs. End police violence. End health care, housing, and education apartheid. WE are the experts on our own liberation. And we won’t stop until it’s won.”
We know what our own freedom looks like.

End the slavery permitted under the 13th amendment.
End the War on Drugs.
End police violence.
End health care, housing, and education apartheid.
WE are the experts on our own liberation. And we won’t stop until it’s won.
Time will tell if there is any accountability for her as a U.S. House Rep but recent history has shown us that rules are only for Republicans. We do hope you are able to enjoy your Fourth of July celebrations anyway though.
