Dave McCormick Finally Concedes to Dr. Mehmet Oz in PA Senate Primary Race Setting up Showdown Against Dem Nominee John Fetterman

It took over two weeks, but the Pennsylvania Senate Republican primary has finally come to a close after Dave McCormick conceded tonight to Dr. Mehmet Oz.

The Trump-backed Oz will now face the Democrat nominee John Fetterman in the November general election.

McCormick’s concession comes after each candidate won 31 percent of the vote, and both campaigns projected victory once all ballots were counted.

The Philadelphia Inquirer had reported earlier that McCormick appeared to be running out of options to keep the race going.

At a “Recount Party,” McCormick thanked everybody for their support in a speech and said, “We came so close.”

“Today, I called Mehmet Oz and congratulated him on his victory,” McCormick told his supporters.

Civil rights attorney Leo Terrell declared in a tweet, “Dr. Oz wins Republican Senate Primary!”

Election expert Larry Sabato tweeted about the news, “So Dr. Oz is now the GOP nominee to become Sen. Oz. Dem nominee Lt. Gov. John Fetterman has to quickly overcome health concerns to fully compete in one of the 3-4 most competitive Senate races of 2022. Crystal Ball initial rating: Tossup.”

Fetterman recently released a statement about his health scare where he said, “The stroke I suffered on May 13 didn’t come out of nowhere,” and “as a result, I almost died. I want to encourage others to not make the same mistake.”

Whether or not that situation will end up affecting the race remains to be seen, but now Republicans can focus their efforts behind Oz.
