Defendant Attacks Las Vegas Judge After She Rejects Request By His Lawyer For Probation

In a stunning video, a defendant can be seen attacking a Las Vegas judge on Wednesday after she had rejected a request by his lawyer for probation.

Clark County District Court Judge Mary Kay Holthus was lunged at by three-time felon Deobra Redden, who was reportedly in her courtroom for sentencing on a charge of attempted battery with substantial bodily harm.

Redden’s attorney had asked Holthus to sentence his client to probation before the attack but Holthus said, “I think it’s time he get a taste of something else.”

In the video, Redden could then be heard yelling “F*ck that, b*tch” and he is then seen jumping over the bench toward Holthus.

An American flag behind Holthus was knocked over in the ensuing scuffle as others in the courtroom attempted to subdue Redden.

According to 8NewsNow, Redden was booked into the Clark County jail on new charges of battery and battery on a protected person.

One count of the battery on a protected person charge indicated the victim was “substantially harmed” and Redden was due in court on the new charges at 9 a.m. Thursday.

8NewsNow also reported that while Holthus hit her head, she was otherwise OK, according to their sources, and a marshal was injured.
