In an interview that was reported today, U.S. House Rep Nancy Mace (R-SC) declared that she can win without Donald Trump.
The defiance from Mace comes after a bizarre “boombox outside the window” stunt that she pulled after he endorsed one of her primary opponents, Katie Arrington.
Mace told Caitlin Byrd with The State, “I’m gonna win without him.”
Arrington recently told potential primary voters at the Charleston County Republican Party about Mace, “She sold out President Trump. She sold out this district. She sold me out. I voted for her.”
“And I sent her to Washington because she was going to be a pro-Trump conservative because that’s what we need,” Arrington added.
Byrd reported just prior to the Trump endorsement that Trump is planning a South Carolina rally to boost Mace and another congressional hopeful who are looking to oust GOP incumbents.
Mace has been endorsed by Nikki Haley and a poll that was conducted during the first 48 hours after Arrington’s announcement showed that she had a lead over Arrington.
The poll also suggested that Haley’s influence on the district was greater than Trump’s.
In an interview with Newsmax, Arrington said, “I took the endorsement of President Trump so seriously, it means the world to me that he’s acknowledging that I’m a fighter and that I’m a worker.”
