Dem U.S. House Rep Tim Ryan Has Meltdown on House Floor, Demands Republicans ‘Stop Talking About Dr. Seuss’

A recent video tweeted by House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) of himself reading Dr. Seuss’ book “Green Eggs and Ham” aloud has garnered over 5 million views thus far.

Dr. Seuss Enterprises said last week that six of the late childrens’ author’s books would no longer be sold because they supposedly contained racist and offensive imagery and many felt that the Biden administration had a hand in it, although it was fact checked that it wasn’t the case.

U.S. House Rep Tim Ryan (D-OH) invoked the author today in a rant on the House floor where he was making his pitch for the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act.

In a clip that was tweeted by Recount, Ryan can be seen saying, “Heaven forbid we pass something that’s going to help the damn workers in the United States of America.”

“Heaven forbid we tilt the balance that has been going in the wrong direction for 50 years. We talk about pensions, you complain. We talk about the minimum wage increase, you complain,” Ryan continues, attacking House Republicans for their stances.

Continuing his attack on House Republicans, Ryan concluded, “We talk about giving them the right to organize, you complain. But if we were passing a tax cut here, you’d all be getting in line to vote yes for it. Now stop talking about Dr. Seuss and start working with us on behalf of the American workers.”

It is unclear if any Republicans mentioned Dr. Seuss while speaking out against the act today on the House floor, but U.S. House Rep Bob Good (R-VA) tweeted a clip of himself opposing it, while discussing his own experiences.

“As a person who worked in a unionized auto factory during college I have firsthand experience with the problems unions can create. Unions make American companies less efficient, less profitable, and less competitive, and they cost American jobs. I oppose the #PROUnionBosses Act,” Good said.
