With predictions of Democrats losing their majority in the house, commentators on MSNBC’s The Sunday Show seemed to lose their minds over the prospects of Ohio Representative Jim Jordan possibly becoming Speaker of the House.
The Sunday Show panelist and GOP strategist Tara Setmayer predicted that if Republicans take back the house Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) won’t be able to maintain his position as Republican leader and that Jordan could be a contender for the Speaker of the House.
This commentary from Setmayer set of MSNBC host Jonathan Capehart and the rest of the panel off. Capehart responded to Setmayer’s prediction with, “On the House side, if you do get a Speaker Jim Jordan, a Speaker Marjorie Taylor Greene, let’s be fanciful here, a Speaker Madison Cawthorn—it is not going to happen—but if the House, if Republicans take over the House…all hell’s going to break loose and they could file articles of impeachment against the president and the vice president“.
Renee Graham a columnist for the Boston Globe seemed most disturbed by the prospect saying, “I mean, all hell will break loose, nothing will get done [if Jordan becomes Speaker]. This will be a vengeance fantasy that Quentin Tarantino could not have dreamt of. It is going to be payback time. It is always about amassing power for the sake of power.”
Jordan has faced major criticism from the left after text messages were released by the January 6th committee with many Democrats calling him a traitor. Representative Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) said, “Look, Jim Jordan is a traitor. He’s a traitor to the Constitution of the United States. He has been a traitor to the Constitution of the United States for quite a while, and now we actually have it in text.” after the texts were released. It was later revealed that Representative Adam Schiff had manipulated the texts to better fit his agenda.
It does look very likely that the House will change hands again and Republicans will be back in power after the 2022 elections. This has many democrats scrambling as they spent all four years that Trump was the president trying to discredit him and tie him to false information. Trump was impeached twice before he left office and democrats are afraid that is all republicans will want to do if they take control of Congress.
Even now the democrats’ strategy hasn’t changed, they still seem to focus on Trump and running against him even though he has been out of office since January, democrats are obsessed with him. Earlier this month there was speculation that Trump could even become Speaker of the House! This would upset many in the media and Congress.
The 2022 elections will be telling on where the people of the United States stand, we will have to wait and watch. If the November elections of 2021 were any indicator, the shift is to the right.
