The Thrall Police Department recently posted a selfie that one of its officers took with Kyle Rittenhouse during a traffic stop.
“Make those stops, you never know who you might meet. Today it was Kyle Rittenhouse, welcome to Texas,” the Thrall Police Department wrote.
After backlash, the department added, “I must have missed something, I believed that this young man was arrested, charged, indicted and then found not guilty by a jury of his peers.”
“Is this not how our country works anymore? The hate in these comments is terrible, if you have information that is contrary to that I would honestly love to hear it,” the department explained.
Ultimately, the department turned off comments on the post, which now has totaled over 12k likes, 1.7k comments, and 1.8k shares.
Facebook user Rory Sandra Cunningham was one of those comments that the department might describe as “terrible” as he responded, “What a waste of police time.”
Another “terrible” comment came from Facebook user Kari Ashpaugh, who replied, “Sick you are making him out as a hero.”
“Shame on your officer and this department,” Ashpaugh added.
Facebook user Gary Stephens, however, applauded the move and declared that he is, “Moving to Thrall!!!!”
