Twitter Ordered By Judge to Turn Over Documents to Musk on Bot Data From Former Exec

Twitter has been ordered by a Delaware judge to turn over documents to Elon Musk on bot data from former exec Kayvon Beykpour.

Delaware Chancery Court Judge Kathaleen St. J. McCormick, however, mostly denied Musk’s request in a one-page ruling, ordering that Twitter needn’t “collect, review, or produce documents” from any of the other 21 additional custodians Musk asked for.

Beykpour, the former head of consumer product, was fired in May and was the top product executive at Twitter for years before he was unexpectedly dismissed by new chief executive officer Parag Agrawal.

“Judge orders Twitter to turn over documents to Elon Musk from a former Twitter executive, who Musk says was a key figure in calculating the number of fake accounts on the platform.”

Beykpour had been with Twitter since 2015 when the company acquired his live video app, Periscope, and he had quickly climbed the ranks under former CEO Jack Dorsey.

Musk had asked McCormick to force Twitter to identify the names of workers specifically responsible for evaluating how much of the platform’s customer base is made up of spam and robot accounts, who he had accused the company of hiding.

Twitter has so far given up the names of “records custodians,” who aren’t as familiar with the data in question.

Musk recently amplified a report by Fox News’ Bill Melugin on the number of border crossings taking place by illegal immigrants.

In response to a report from Melugin about crossings in the Del Rio sector, Musk asked, “400k from one border crossing in less than a year?”

After Melugin confirmed, Musk replied, “Strange that this receives very little attention in the media.”
