After a picture of documents that were removed during the FBI raid at Trump’s Mar-A-Lago was released, Steve Doocy, host of “Fox & Friends” questioned why former President Donald Trump had them.
With the picture, which had been edited to make sure the documents were concealed Doocy asked, “Well, ultimately it comes down to — why did he have all that secret stuff at Mar-a-Lago?”
Doocy, who seemed very skeptical of Trump as of late also added that Trump has said he declassified all of the documents he had taken from the White House. Doocy’s response was, that’s “news to the agencies that those documents belong to.”
Doocy referred to the DOJ court filing as “He [Trump] had, apparently, three classified documents in his desk.”
Referring back to the picture Doocy stated, “It shows five yellow folders marked ‘top secret,’ and another one with that says ‘secret SCI’ which means ‘sensitive compartmentalized information. Those are the biggest secrets in the world.”
This seems like quite a sift for Doocy who seemed to be a Trump ally and now seems to be questioning the former president’s removal of documents from the White House.
Doocy is not alone at Fox News in shifting to questioning the former president. Eric Shawn pondered if Trump was possibly selling information to the Saudis or the Russians or if they miss handled them innocently.
Many former presidents have taken documents and even furnishings with them when they leave the White House at the end of their term as president. This is the first time the DOJ and FBI have taken such severe action in retrieving the items.
Trump has said he was working with them before the raid took place, and even added a lock at their request.
The FBI seems to be moving forward with investigating whether or not Trump broke the Espionage act as well as two other federal laws by keeping the documents at his Florida home.
Trump has filed a lawsuit requesting a special master to be appointed to review all that was taken, in response, the FBI stated they had already got through all the documents. Trump still wants the special master to be able to review them.
This unusual situation has the country more on edge and the word ‘Banana Republic’ has been floated when referencing the raid on the former president’s home. We will see if this move by the DOJ and FBI comes to any fruition or fizzles away.
