Distraught Activist Interrupts Minneapolis Leaders’ Press Conference After Man With Gun Killed During SWAT Raid

A distraught activist interrupted a Minneapolis Police Department press conference that was held after a man with a gun was killed during a SWAT raid.

Video shows the activist, Nekima Levy Armstrong, scolding Mayor Jacob Frey and Interim Police Chief Amelia Huffman for “white-washing” what happened in the shooting.

Armstrong serves as the co-chair of the city’s new Commission on Community Safety and told Frey that if he no longer wanted her in that position the commission after her interruption, she understood.

Minneapolis recorded the highest number of homicides in over 20 years last year, just one shy of a record set in 1995.

The SWAT raid was carried out while looking for suspects in a murder that took place in neighboring St. Paul.

Armstrong suggested that there should have been priority for a homicide that took place in Minneapolis earlier in the morning.

The press conference was ultimately shut down after Huffman attempted to answer a question, there was hostility in a follow-up.

Another apparent activist then took over the podium and began condemning the leaders, referencing George Floyd and Breonna Taylor.

Attorney Ben Crump has released the bodycam video from the raid and accused the Minneapolis Police Department of “killing Amir Locke while he was wrapped in a blanket on the couch.”

“Now we demand #JusticeForAmirLocke!!” Crump declared.

According to journalist Janel Forte, “Protests are planned in Minneapolis this weekend – with demonstrators demanding police accountability and transparency. #AmirLocke
