The 45th President Donald Trump continued to circle the wagons today after the heavily redacted affidavit was released yesterday in regards to the Mar-a-Lago raid.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump declared that “The Raid on my home, Mar-a-Lago, is one of the most egregious assaults on democracy in the history of our Country which is, by the way, going to places, in a very bad way, it has never seen before!”
Not long thereafter, Trump added in a separate Truth Social post, “INVASION OF PRIVACY!!!”
The New York Times’ Jonathan Weisman was hard at work today claiming that Republicans have lost interest in defending Trump over the raid.
In an op-ed, Weisman wrote that “with the release of a redacted affidavit detailing the justification for the search, the former president’s allies were largely silent, a potentially telling reaction with ramifications for his political future.”
“The accusations against Trump have become increasingly serious,” Weisman added.
Fox News, however, tweeted yesterday “‘ANOTHER WITCH HUNT’: @JesseBWatters says redacted document detailing search of Mar-A-Lago proves raid was ‘a fishing expedition’ executed by Biden admin officials.”
“This is why the Justice Department didn’t want to release the affidavit – it’s embarrassing,” Watters was quoted as saying.
