While addressing attendees today at the Faith & Freedom Coalition conference in Nashville, Tennessee, former President Donald Trump defended his Jan. 6 speech.
Trump compared his speech to “ranting and raving” Democrats like U.S. House Rep Maxine Waters (CA), House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (CA), and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (NY).
TPUSA’s Benny Johnson shared a clip of Trump’s speech in a tweet and said, “Trump calls out Democrats for ignoring Maxine Waters calling for harassment of Trump supporters and says Chuck Schumer ‘sounded like a mob boss’ outside of the Supreme Court.”
In the clip, Trump mentioned U.S. House Rep Liz Cheney (R-WY) in regards to the Jan. 6 committee and said, “These are very vicious people, just like crazy Liz Cheney removed the part of my quote where I encouraged people to peacefully and patriotically make their voices heard.”
“Think of that, compare that to Maxine Waters, you ever watch her? You ever watch her ranting and raving and go get em and fight em, you know what,” Trump pointed out.
Trump then pivoted to Pelosi and pointed out that, “her statements, they are horrible statements.”
Speaking about a recently unearthed 2020 clip, Trump continued, “Look at Schumer in front of the United States Supreme Court, he sounded like a mob boss… go back and look at that tape and frankly Bill Barr if he had courage he would have done something about it.”
“I suggested it, but he was so afraid of being impeached, he didn’t want to do anything. How do you not get impeached? Don’t do anything. Don’t do anything,” Trump lamented about Barr.
The clip concludes with Trump explaining that “The committee is taking the testimony of witnesses who defended me for eight hours, chopping it up and truncating sound bites to make it sound like what they said was absolutely terrible.”
