Former Vice President Mike Pence was booed by the audience at the annual National Rifle Association convention in his home state of Indiana.
Pence was introduced by NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre, as he walked up to the podium attendees shared their dislike of the former VP booing him. Pence said, “Well hello NRA,” when he received even more boos.
Through the booing one attending yelled, “We love you Mike”. Pence replied, “I love you too,” the audience laughed.
The Columbia Bugle shared a video of Pence’s entrance to the NRA.
“HAHAHAHAHAHA Mike Pence getting booed at the NRA Convention today.”
Former President Donald Trump spoke later in the day. Trump made note of the welcome the audience gave Pence telling them they “made news” with their welcome.
Trump said, “I hope you gave Pence a good warm approval,” and the audience booed again.
“No, because he is a nice man if you want to really know the truth. He is. He’s a good man,” Trump added.
“It’s a big news story. You’ve made news today. I don’t know what you did, but you made news today with the introduction you gave,” he continued on about polling showing him leading all the other declared and possible Republican presidential candidates for 2024.
Cheif Nerd shared the clip from Trump’s speech:
“Trump Praises Mike Pence at the NRA Convention After Pence Was Booed Earlier “I hope you gave Pence a good, warm approval because he is a nice man, if you wanna really know the truth.”
There is speculation that Pence is deciding if he will run for president or not, the current polling does not seem to show him with much favorability at this time. Trump is still leading the pack in the polls.
From the welcome that Pence got at the NRA, he may want to take it as a sign that it isn’t time for him to throw his hat in the ring, we will see what he does.
