Doug Collins Trolls Jerry Nadler With Old Video After Impeachment Procedure

This morning, the House Judiciary Committee approved a resolution to define the rules of the panel’s impeachment investigation. This marks the first vote taken by the House Committee related to moving forward with the Democrat’s attempts at impeaching President Trump. The debates involved a lot of grandstanding and some back and forth about whether or not congressional staff would be allowed to ask questions during possible impeachment hearings. Rep. Doug Collins (R) from Georgia basically made an opening statement that is getting a lot of attention.

Collins made remarks about how useless he believes this particular measure is and that it is just another dog and pony show. In an entertaining video that can be seen in the first clip below, he says, among other things, “the Judiciary Committee has became a giant Instagram filter, to make it appear that something’s happening that’s not”. He then goes on to reference Nadler’s earlier words and says, “the difference between formal impeachment proceedings and what we’re doing today is a world apart”. He then brings up an analogy from The Wizard of Oz and says about the Democrats: “the emerald city is impeachment!”. See the entire clip (two clips total) in the tweets from @RepDougCollins below:

The first two video clips of Rep. Collins speaking were posted to his twitter account and subsequently, he posted two more clips from 1998 of the current Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee Jerry Nadler (D) speaking back then about how much he is against impeaching a freely elected President (Bill Clinton). Nadler says, “if our conduct in this matter does not earn the confidence in the American people, then any action we take, especially if we seek to overturn the results of a free election, will be viewed with great suspicion, and could divide a nation for years to come”. He then posts another clip of Nadler ranting about wasting time on debating about whether or not impeachment proceedings should proceed for then-President Bill Clinton (D). This puts Jerry Nadler on the exact opposite side of the debate as he stands on today hence Collins posting the clips below:

President Trump fired off three tweets of his own commenting on what he believes to be the ridiculousness of all this considering that the Mueller investigation is over and the Democrats don’t really have anything substantive to try to impeach the President on.
