Elon Musk Congratulates his Mother Maye on Twitter for Receiving PhD

Twitter CEO Elon Musk congratulated his mother on receiving an honorary doctorate in dietetics. Maye Musk was awarded the degree for her outstanding contribution to the field of dietetics.

Maye shared a video from the ceremony along with, “I am now Dr. Maye Musk PhD! Thank you the University of the Free State for honoring me with the Doctor of Dietetics. After dedicating my adult life to nutrition research and the promotion of dietitians, this is the best recognition ever! This ceremony brought me to tears. It was not my plan, but it is the peak of my achievements.”

Her son Elon replied, “Congratulations!”

Maye received the degree from the University of the Free State, at the campus in Bloemfontein South Africa. During her acceptance speech, she recounted her memories of the city and shared, “This was so unexpected. Thank you very much for this honor. My children are very proud of me. This is the best thing that has ever happened to me. It has been wonderful experiences in Bloemfontein and at Kovsies, everybody was great. Thank you.”

The Vice Chancellor of UFS said of Maye:

“It is indeed a great honor for me to congratulate a very worthy recipient of a UFS honorary doctorate. A woman who has made her mark with grace and poise across the globe in the vital field of nutrition and dietetics, and whose passionate contribution to her profession will continue to reverberate wherever her popular publication is prescribed, studied, and its principles applied.”

“Dr Musk, today we participate in what you have achieved in the field of nutrition, healthy living, and wellness. May this gesture of recognition inspire you to keep on being successful and making an impact wherever you go. And may you always remember that you are part of our UFS community – and our family – here in the Free State.”

Maye left South Africa and moved to Canada and eventually the United States. She is an international best-selling author, public speaker, model, and dietitian.

Her post has over 2.4 million views and many other Twitter users joined Elon in congratulating Maye on her Ph.D.

  1. Good families generate positive outcomes. No accident.

    The black culture could learn from this but they won’t. To them it’s all about tribalism.
