With former Twitter “Trust & Safety” head Yoel Roth taking a shot at Elon Musk on the way out, the new owner isn’t going to take it quietly.
A resurfaced tweet today that Roth made in 2010 shows him sharing a Salon article that questions if there would be an okay student-teacher relationship.
Roth asked in the tweet, “Can high school students ever meaningfully consent to sex with their teachers?”
While it seems like perhaps Roth was suggesting the answer is no, he didn’t explicitly state that which leaves it open to interpretation.
Human trafficking survivor Eliza brought it to Musk’s attention by tagging him in a quote tweet of Roth and declaring, “I think I may have found the problem @elonmusk.”
Musk responded, “This explains a lot” and then added a screenshot in a reply as he said, “Looks like Yoel is arguing in favor of children being able to access adult Internet services in his PhD thesis.”
The screenshot purportedly showed an excerpt from the thesis which left little up to misinterpretation that Roth was in support of creating spaces for such interactions, particularly among the LGTBQ community.
Musk and Eliza participated in a Twitter Space last night.
“Short excerpt of @elonmusk telling @TaraBull808 @JohnnaCrider1 and @elizableu in their Twitter space that stopping child sexual exploitation will be the #1 issue for Twitter…”
