During Tesla’s third-quarter earnings call Elon Musk was asked if he saw value in creating a parent corporation like Google’s parent corporation Alphabet.
The thought is that Musk would put Tesla, SpaceX, and Neuralink under one holding company.
Musk wasn’t a fan of the idea, he answered,”I’m not Warren Buffett. I’m not an investor. I am an engineer and manufacturing person and a technologist.”
Musk just dismissed the whole proposition, he has no interest in having his own Berkshire Hathaway, which owns a multitude of businesses including Geico and See’s Candies.
Musk continued, “I actually work and design and develop products. We’re not going to have a portfolio of investments or whatever.”
According to Markets Insider Musk isn’t the biggest fan of Warren Buffett. “He sits there and reads all these annual reports, which are super boring.”
He has also said of Buffett, “He’s trying to figure out: ‘Does Coke or Pepsi deserve more capital?’ It’s kind of a boring job, if you ask me.”
The pair has mutual respect for each other, Buffet has called Musk a “remarkable guy” and Musk has previously quoted Buffet on past earning calls.
In response to Buffett saying of Musk, “Elon may turn things upside down in some areas. I don’t think he’d want to take us on in candy.” Musk Tweeted, “I’m starting a candy company & it’s going to be amazing. I am super super serious”.
