A report today said that Ghislane Maxwell believes her former lover Jeffrey Epstein was murdered in his prison cell at The Metropolitan Correctional Center in Lower Manhattan, New York City and she fears that she is next.
Maxwell is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, NYC, which is across the East River. She has been denied bond and is due to stand trial in July 2021 and could be jailed for up to 35 years if convicted. She pleaded not guilty to all six charges she faces.
The indictment alleged that Maxwell groomed the victims to endure sexual abuse and was sometimes there when Epstein abused them. It also alleged she lied during a 2016 deposition in a civil case.
Multiple calls to the detention center where she is being held resulted in no comment and a redirection to a general contact with the Federal Bureau of Prisons. We asked what steps were being taken to protect Maxwell.
A 60 Minutes report on Epstein’s suicide found that it was the first one in 14 years at the facility that has been dubbed “Guantanamo of New York.” The facility where Maxwell is being held has a reputation as well.
Former Warden Cameron Lindsay said last year that “The M.D.C. was one of the most troubled, if not the most troubled facility in the Bureau of Prisons.” He believes that Maxwell should be kept on suicide watch.
Lindsay said, “She allegedly knows a great deal of information about a multitude of potential co-defendants in the actions against Jeffrey Epstein.”
When Epstein hung himself, he was not on suicide watch, despite a previous suicide attempt. There was also a camera that was reported to have malfunctioned.
An alleged victim has come forward and said that Maxwell “had to find three girls a day to satisfy Jeffrey Epstein.” Annie Farmer also alleges that Maxwell ordered her to get naked at the American financier’s remote ranch in New Mexico and groped her breasts when she was just 16.
