Eric Swalwell Asks GOP Reps At Gun Control Hearing if They Are There For the ‘Kids’ or the ‘Killers’

At a gun control hearing today, U.S. House Rep Eric Swalwell (D-CA) used as much hyperbole as he possibly could to try to sway public opinion in the favor of Democrats’ gun control proposals.

In a tweet, Swalwell shared a clip of what he said when given an opportunity to speak before the Judiciary Committee.

“We are voting to protect kids from the next school shooting. Every GOP member is opposed,” Swalwell explained.

Swalwell then said, “So I asked my GOP colleagues, ‘Who are you here for? Our kids or the killers.'”

During the nearly five-minute speech, Swalwell claimed that a mom said that her daughter wondered “What picture are you going to use for me?” in regards to a potential collage that would be made after she was killed in a school shooting because she has been convinced the odds of that happening to her are great.

Swalwell then went as far as suggesting to the GOP reps in attendence, “Why don’t you go to the funeral of the killer? Because that is the only place that the killer is being celebrated.”

U.S. House Rep Louie Gohmert (R-TX) responded to Swalwell, by calling his remarks an “Outrage” and asked, “How dare you?”

In another, vulgar tweet, Swalwell complained about Republicans bringing up Hunter Biden at the hearing.

“We are in a @HouseJudiciary hearing to pass the Protecting Our Kids Act, and @JudiciaryGOP have already invoked Hunter Biden,” Swalwell said.

Swalwell then insisted, “Republicans are not serious about protecting our kids. We are getting sh*t done here.”

“What’s your job, @HouseGOP?” Swalwell inquired.
