Former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson bashed her former employer during an interview yesterday with CNN’s Jim Acosta.
Acosta previewed the interview by announcing in a tweet, “Coming up on tonight’s Democracy in Peril… @GretchenCarlson weighs in on the Fox BS factory. We’ll also discuss the tidal wave of disinformation podcasts starring people like Bannon with @profgalloway plus @JohnAvlon @SaraMurray and of course #HoldOn”
Carlson quote tweeted him and said, “Coming up now on @CNN“

— Gretchen Carlson (@GretchenCarlson) January 28, 2022The interview turned into a bash fest of Fox News, specifically Tucker Carlson, and after playing a clip from his show, she said that they had devolved into “non-fact-based conspiracy theories” and “outright dangerous rhetoric” and that it is “a complete disservice to our country.”
She insisted, “We’re seeing not only the fallout from fake news during the Trump era [to] what happened on Jan. 6, but now it’s moving into other areas, not just news. Now it’s hitting science, the vaccines.”
“There is a big difference between having a conservative opinion and having one that supports conspiracy theories,” she claimed.

In a tweet, she said of the interview, “Just talked about this ridiculousness on @cnn – the devastation of civility w/ jerks like @TuckerCarlson saying this abt @PeteButtigieg ‘This guy, who literally couldn’t fix the potholes in South Bend is now transportation secretary. But he breastfeeds so it’s equity!’ STFU”

She also suggested that she has has ran into people who think that she still works at Fox News because “all they watch only Fox News and they never covered my story there obviously.”
An employee of the company for a decade, she was fired on June 23, 2016, and on July 6, 2016, she sued the founder of Fox News, Roger Ailes, for sexual harassment, and he resigned two weeks later.
When asked why she sued, she replied, “I realized my career was going to be taken away from me” for what she believes is nothing that she did wrong.
However, nine days before she was fired, she said on-air, “The assault weapon ban in this country should be reinstated. Maybe it’s time for more of us to start getting real, to try to come together and actually get things done.”
