A former American Idol contestant, C.J. Harris died yesterday at 31 years old from an apparent heart attack.
TMZ reported that they were told by a family member that Harris suffered an apparent heart attack in Jasper, Alabama.
Harris, whose full name is Curtis Harris, was taken to the Walker Baptist Medical Center by ambulance after a medical emergency.
A spokesperson for the Walker County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Harris died at the hospital, but no further details were released.
In 2014, Harris finished in the top six on American Idol after first auditioning in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and then in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Harris was active on social media and one of his final posts on Instagram, shared in December, was a video of himself playing a cover of a song by The Fray titled, “How to Save a Life.”
Harris hadn’t been as active on Twitter recently but shared a picture of himself, apparently taken Christmas Eve, in the early morning yesterday.
