Gavin Newsom Believes Biden’s Poll Numbers Will ‘Miraculously’ Rise if Congress Gets ‘Something Done’

In an interview with host Chuck Todd on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) said that he believes President Joe Biden’s poll numbers will “miraculously” rise if Congress gets “something done.”

In a clip that was shared on the program’s Twitter feed, Newsom insisted, “I have reverence and respect for the president, I’m not here to offer advice unless it’s sought.”

“I will observe though, just as a taxpayer, it’s COVID stupid. You look at the poll numbers,” Newsom continued.

Todd jumped in and inquired, “You think focusing on these others issues is a bit… they’re not unimportant.”

“They’re all important, but I mean, this political death march of who’s up, who’s down, Manchin this, Sinema… I can’t take it any more, no one can take anymore,” Newsom explained.

Newsom continued, “I just, enough, stop, just get something done and it finally looks like they are finally going to get something done and watch, miraculously numbers will start going up, they actually delivered, you can go out and say what you did and no one even remembers what was in the original $1T dollar package.”

Ultimately, Newsom then suggested that people would then forget about all the fighting that occurred and that people blame Biden for the situation.

During Friday’s White House press briefing, White House press secretary Jen Psaki claimed, “We’re getting closer, we’re into the nitty gritty details. There is agreement about some fundamental investments in our society.”

Biden would prefer to get a deal before he leaves for an overseas trip late next week, and that he will continue making calls over the weekend with members of Congress, according to Psaki.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) also recently suggested that a deal could happen in the near future as she told reporters on Capitol Hill, “We had a very positive meeting this morning, I’m very optimistic.”
