Gov Northam Dodges Trump on 2nd Amendment Dig, Tells Him To Stop Taking Hydroxychloroquine

Yesterday, President Trump held an event where he hosted a potato farmer from Virginia and at the end, he took a jab at Virginia Governor Ralph Northam. He warned that Northam was going after second amendment rights: There will be “no one to guard your potatoes.”

Northam responded that the potatoes in Virginia “are fine.” Instead of responding to the second amendment criticism, he chose to echo House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and tell Trump that he should “stop taking hydroxychloroquine.”

The President is hosting an event w/ farmers and discussing a food relief initiative. After a speaker from Virginia wrapped up, the President attacked the Democratic Governor and warned they are going after second amendment rights: There will be “no one to guard your potatoes.”

I grew up on a Virginia farm, Mr. President—our potatoes are fine. And as the only medical doctor among our nation’s governors, I suggest you stop taking hydroxychloroquine. Let’s all get back to work.

On the eve of the Coronavirus lockdowns in March, the Virginia General Assembly was busy passing gun legislation. With the new majority, Democrats passed several anti-second amendment bills.

Before the General Assembly session began in January, Northam unveiled a package of legislation containing several proposals to tighten and restrict access to guns in the commonwealth.

In the end, seven of the eight pieces of legislation proposed by Northam were approved by the General Assembly — in some form with only a bill banning “assault weapons” failing.
